Catherine MacGregor, (néeFiamma; born 7 August 1972)[2] is aFrench businesswoman and engineer.[1][3] She is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ofEngie since 1 January 2021.[2][1]
Catherine MacGregor was born Catherine Fiamma inMorocco.[2] Her parents, both mathematics teachers withCorsican andBasque roots, raised her inCasablanca until she was 14.[1] She attendedLycée Lyautey there, and later moved toParis with her mother. She pursued higher studies in the field ofenergy and engineering, earning a bachelor’s degree in engineering fromÉcole Centrale Paris in 1995.[4]
She joinedSchlumberger in 1995 and remained for 23 years. Her roles included being the group's HR director. From 2013 to 2016, she led operations in Europe &Africa. In 2017, she became the President ofdrilling activities inLondon. She was keen on using3D seismic technology forenhanced oil recovery while at Schlumberger.[5][4]
In 2020, she became the President ofTechnip Energies (based in Paris), a spin-off fromTechnipFMC. Her tenure saw a focus being provided onenergy transition.[2][6]
The board of the French energy companyEngie named her as the next CEO on 2 October 2020, and she assumed the position on 1 January 2021.[7][5] During that period, as her predecessorIsabelle Kocher, she held the distinction of being the sole female CEO in France'sCAC-40 stock index untilChristel Heydemann joined as the CEO ofOrange S.A. The French Finance Minister,Bruno Le Maire, described it as 'regrettable' that more women were not in similar positions alongside her.[6]
She was awarded the "Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur" (Knight of theLegion of Honour) on December 30, 2020, in recognition of her role as the CEO of an energy industrial group and her 25 years of service.[10]
In 2023, she ranked 26th in Forbes list of "World's 100 most powerful women".[11]
She was ranked 25th on Fortune's list of Most Powerful Women in 2023.[12]
She met her former husband, who isScottish, inAberdeen during her time working at Schlumberger.[1] They have two daughters.[2]
