This hidden category is to track those articles with
short citations or shortened footnotes but do not use formats that link to full citations as explained by
Help:Shortened footnotes. For example, the templates in
Category:Author–date citation templates typically provide links to a
full citation in the reference or sources section of the article.
It is important to realize that this is not in itself a problem in terms of Wikipedia's policies, but sometimes offers opportunities for improvement and usability. All changes must be made in accordance withWP:CITEVAR.
To add the category, simply add[[Category:Wikipedia articles containing unlinked shortened footnotes]] at the bottom of the page of the article you want to list.
- Please note that changes should be in accordance with theexisting citation methods and in a manner that would begenerally considered helpful. When in doubt, consider seekingconsensus for the change first. Inclusion in this category should not preclude considerations of these or otherpolicies and guidelines.
- Also consider than when short citations make up an insignificant proportion of the references, and when page numbers are not included in the short citation, it may be more advantageous to convert these short citations to regularfootnotes.
