TheCatalan Football Federation (Catalan:Federació Catalana de Futbol,Spanish:Federación Catalana de Fútbol;FCF) is thefootball association responsible for administeringfootball in Catalonia. It was formed on 11 November 1900 as theFootball Associació de Catalunya (English:Football Association of Catalonia). It was the first football association founded inSpain. The first president was Eduard Alesson and the original members includedFC Barcelona,Català FC,Hispania AC andSociedad Española de Football.
Between 1903 and 1940, the federation organised theCampionat de Catalunya, the first league championship ever played inSpain. Since 1904, the federation has also organised theCatalonia national football team.
Today, the federation continues to organise its own club competition, theCopa Catalunya. It also administersLliga Elit and the subsequent lower tiers within theSpanish football league system, and theCatalonia amateur football team which represents those leagues in regional competitions.
