Cassytha melantha is aparasiticvine.[2][3] Common names includecoarse dodder-laurel andlarge dodder-laurel.[2][4] The fruits are about 10–15 millimetres (0.39–0.59 in) in diameter and are green, drying to black. These are edible and are harvested in the wild.[4][5]

The species occurs in the states ofWestern Australia,South Australia,Tasmania,Victoria andNew South Wales inAustralia.[3]

The name has sometimes been misapplied toCassytha filiformis.[1]
