Carolyn McCormick is an American actress who playedDr. Elizabeth Olivet in theLaw & Order franchise.

Life and career

McCormick has worked in television, movies, theatre, and voice acting.

Her breakthrough role was inEnemy Mine, directed byWolfgang Petersen withDennis Quaid. Her other film credits includeWoody Allen'sWhatever Works,You Know My Name withSam Elliott, andA Simple Twist of Fate withSteve Martin. She played Hannah's Mom in Barney's Night Before Christmas.Her first notable television credit was as district attorney Rita Fiori inSpenser: For Hire, in 1986–1987. She appeared as theholodeck simulationMinuet in "11001001", a first-season episode ofStar Trek: The Next Generation, and later as Minuet (William Riker's holodeck love interest) in a fantasy-alternate universe during the fourth-season episode "Future Imperfect".

McCormick starred asDr. Elizabeth Olivet, a consulting psychologist for the prosecution onLaw & Order. She appeared in approximately half of the episodes of the NBC series between 1994 and 2006.

In 1997, she played the unhappy wife of a police psychiatrist, played byRobert Pastorelli, in the short-livedAmericanized version of the British seriesCracker. She has been a guest star on series includingMadam Secretary,Elementary,Blue Bloods,Judging Amy,The Practice,Body of Proof,Cold Case,Homicide: Life on the Street,LA Law, andBoston Blue.[2]

McCormick also performs on stage. She appeared at theOff-BroadwayCherry Lane Theatre inEve-olution[3] withThe Cosby Show starSabrina Le Beauf in 2004. She has also appeared inDinner with Friends,Oedipus,Ancestral Voices,The Donahue Sisters,Laureen's Whereabouts andIn Perpetuity. She worked with Thomas Kail at The Flea Theatre inA. R. Gurney'sFamily Furniture (2013). In 2015, she appeared inVanya, Sonya, Masha and Spike at the PaperMill Playhouse andWhat I Did Last Summer at the Signature 2015.[4] She appeared in theBroadway productions ofThe Dinner Party in 2001 as Mariette Levieux,Private Lives (standby) in 2002, and inEquus in 2008 as Dora Strang.[5] In 2012, she appeared opposite her husband, Byron Jennings, in the Off-Broadway production ofTen Chimneys.[6] She appeared Off-Broadway inWill Eno's playThe Open House in 2014 (Lucille Lortel nomination, Drama Desk Award).[7] She has narrated both audio books, including theHunger Games series, andKen Burns documentaries.
