Caroline Pettinato Killeen (1926 – December 2014)[1] was an American activist,perennial political candidate, self-proclaimed nature lobbyist,[2] and formernun.[3] She ran as aUnited Statespresidential candidate and officially qualified for the ballot in theNew Hampshire primary in2008[4] as aDemocrat; she previously ran in2004,1996,1992 and1976.[4][5] She ran on a pro-marijuana platform[4] and is an advocate forenergy conservation.Killeen has also run for various offices inArizona. She ran forMayor ofTucson in 1983, receiving 11 votes.[6]

Killeen has biked across the U.S. several times to raise awareness ofenvironmental andanti-nuclear issues.[3][7] In 1987, at the age of 61, she rode a bicycle across America to protest against thearms race between the Soviet Union and United States.[8] She has also advocateddrug legalization.[9]
