Carlo Ceresoli (Italian pronunciation:[ˈkarlotʃereˈzɔːli]; 14 June 1910 – 22 April 1995[1]) was anItalianfootballgoalkeeper.
Born inBergamo, Ceresoli played club football in the ItalianSerie B withAtalanta, and in theSerie A withInter Milan,Bologna,Genoa andJuventus.
Ceresoli was considered one of the strongest Italian goalkeepers of the 1930s along withGianpiero Combi,Guido Masetti &Aldo Olivieri. With theItaly national team he played the only qualifying match of the1934 FIFA World Cup againstGreece, and the famousBattle of Highbury againstEngland, in which he saved a penalty fromEric Brook.AsGianpiero Combi retired from football after the1934 World Cup, Ceresoli got to start the last three matches of the1933-35Central European International Cup. Winning his first tournament with the Italy national team.He also won the1938 World Cup with the Italy national team, as a back up forAldo Olivieri, and went on to win a total of 8 caps for Italy.
