TheCarlemanniaceae are atropicalEast Asian andSoutheast Asian family ofsubshrub toherbaceousperennialflowering plants with 2genera.[1] Oldersystems of plant taxonomy place the two genera,Carlemannia, andSilvianthus within theCaprifoliaceae or theRubiaceae.[1][2] TheAngiosperm Phylogeny Group classification of 2003 places the group in theLamiales, as a plant family more closely related to theOleaceae than to theCaprifoliaceae.
