Carla Marinucci is an American journalist working forPolitico[1] covering California politics. Formerly of theSan Francisco Chronicle,[2] she specialized inCalifornia stategubernatorial politics and national politics.[citation needed]

Education

Marinucci earned aBachelor of Arts degree in journalism fromSan Jose State University. She also studied Latin American economics and history at theNational Autonomous University of Mexico.[3]

Career

Marinucci has spent much of her career covering California politics, and has also covered business and crime in the past for theContra Costa Times[citation needed] andThe San Francisco Examiner.[4] She has won more than two dozen national and state awards.[4] Marinucci has broken numerous national political news stories, including about California GovernorArnold Schwarzenegger.[2] She appears frequently on thePBS showThis Week in Northern California and been a guest onHardball with Chris Matthews.[5] She has provided political analysis onKQED-FM and was featured on theRonn Owens Show onKGO.[6][citation needed]

She received international attention in April 2011 after posting a video on the internet ofBarack Obama saying US Army PrivateChelsea Manning (then known as Bradley) "broke the law". Supporters of Manning accused Obama of jeopardizing Manning's chances of receiving a fair trial. Marinucci was punished[7] by theWhite House, which withdrew her privileges.[8][9] TheSan Francisco Chronicle accused the White House of a "credibility gap on press coverage".[10]

Personal life

Marinucci is married to fellow Bay Area journalistRoland De Wolk and has two sons.[11]
