Municipality in Castile and León, Spain
Capillas is a Spanish municipality located in theprovince of Palencia, Castile and León. In 2013, its population was 86.
The town was first mentioned in 916 asFonte de Capela, one of the first settlements of the region.[2] Its name, in Spanish, means "chapels".
Capillas, part of thecomarca ofTierra de Campos, is 30 kilometres (19 mi) fromPalencia and 52 kilometres (32 mi)fromValladolid.[3] The municipality bordersBoada de Campos,Castil de Vela,Castromocho,Gatón de Campos (in theprovince of Valladolid),Meneses de Campos andVillarramiel.[4]
Francisco Blanco Salcedo, born here in 1512, was Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela for seven years.
