TheEOS-1Ds is an 11.1-megapixelfull-frame digital SLRcamera body made byCanon in the1Ds series, released on 24 September 2002[3] as Canon's first full-frame DSLR.[4] Its dimensions are 156 x 157.6 x 79.9 mm (6.1 x 6.2 x 3.1 in.); weight without a battery is 1,265 g.[1]
The ~11 megapixel, full size 35mm digital camera had higher megapixel resolution and larger frame size than most others. The price wasUS$7,999 in 2002[5] (equivalent to $13,984 in 2024).
The camera has twoautofocus modes and an option for manual focusing. Its viewfinder is a glass pentaprism. It also has a two-inch,thin-film transistor, colorliquid-crystal monitor with approximately 120,000 pixels.
The camera'simage sensor is aCMOS-basedintegrated circuit withBayer filters forRGB color detection (Canon calls itsingle-plate, in contrast withthree-CCD sensors). It has approximately 11.4 millioneffective pixels. A non-removable opticalanti-aliasing filter is located in front of the image sensor.
The camera has an electronically controlled focal-planeshutter with maximum speed 1/8,000 of a second. Soft-touch shutter release is implemented electrically.
