Canard (French for "duck") is a restaurant with three locations in theU.S. state ofOregon . The original restaurant is located onEast Burnside Street insoutheast Portland 'sBuckman neighborhood, next toLe Pigeon , and outposts operate in nearbyOregon City andBeaverton .
The menu includessmall plates such asfoie gras dumplings withpeanut sauce ,fried chicken wings with truffle ranch, and sea urchin onTexas toast . The tartare is served withChinese sausage , beef, and broccoli, and the New York steak comes withFrench onion soup sauce andSwiss cheese toast.[ 3] Thebrunch menu includesfried chicken sandwiches with orange chile-wasabi mayonnaise ,French toast , oysters, pancakes with duck sausage gravy, and Shrimp Toast Benedict.[ 4] [ 5] Canard also has a cocktail menu.[ 6]
Co-ownersGabriel Rucker and Andrew "Andy" Fortgang[ 7] (Le Pigeon,Little Bird Bistro ) opened the restaurant in April 2018.[ 8] [ 9] [ 10] The restaurant's interior was designed by Mark Annen.[ 11] The restaurant launched brunch in May.[ 12] [ 13]
In 2022, owners announced plans to open a second location in Oregon City.[ 14] [ 15] The restaurant is slated to open on July 10.[ 16]
A third location opened inBeaverton , in the space that previously housedBeaverton Bakery , in 2025.[ 17] [ 18]
In 2018,Eater named Canard one of the eighteen best new restaurants in the United States".[ 19] [ 20] Eater Portland ,[ 21] Portland Monthly ,[ 22] [ 23] andThe Oregonian named Canard the restaurant of the year.[ 24] The business was a semifinalist in the Outstanding Wine Program of the 2020James Beard Awards .[ 25] Alex Frane andBrooke Jackson-Glidden included Canard inEater Portland 's 2021 list of eleven "charming" French restaurants in the city.[ 26] The Oregon City location was also included in the website's 2025 list of Portland's best brunch restaurants.[ 27] Katrina Yentch included Canard in the website's 2025 overview of the best restaurants in Buckman.[ 28] Rebecca Roland included the Paris-brest inEater Portland 's 2025 overview of the city's eleven best restaurants for desserts.[ 29]
