Camote cue orcamotecue is a popularsnack food in thePhilippines made fromcamote (sweet potato).

Slices ofcamote are coated withbrown sugar and then fried, to cook the potatoes and tocaramelize the sugar.[1] It is one of the most commonstreet foods in the Philippines, along withbananacue andturon.[2]

The term is aportmanteau of "camote" and "barbecue", the latter inPhilippine English refers to meat cooked in a style similar tokebabs.[3]

Though servedskewered on bamboo sticks, it is not cooked on the stick. The skewer is purely for easier handling as it is usually sold as street food.
