Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 15 (CXCL15) is a smallcytokine belonging to the CXCchemokine family that has been described in the mouse. This chemokine is also known under the namelungkine. CXCL15 is an ELR+ CXC chemokine (it contains theamino acid sequence E-L-R immediately before its CXC motif) that recruitsneutrophils during inflammation of thelungs. It is highly abundant inepithelial cells of the lung,[2] and can also be found in othermucosal organs such as theurogenital andgastrointestinal tracts, and inendocrine organs like theadrenal gland.[3] Thegene for CXCL15 is found on mousechromosome 5.
