COUP-TF1 (COUPTranscriptionFactor1) also known asNR2F1 (NuclearReceptor subfamily2, groupF, member1) is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theNR2F1gene.[5][6] This protein is a member ofnuclear hormone receptor family ofsteroid hormone receptors.
Coup (chickenovalbumin upstream promoter)transcription factor binds to the ovalbuminpromoter and, in conjunction with another protein (S300-II) stimulatesinitiation of transcription.[7][8] COUP-TF1 binds to both direct repeats andpalindromes of the 5'-AGGTCA-3' motif.[9]
COUP-TFI has been shown tointeract with:
Mutations in this gene have been associated withBosch-Boonstra-Schaaf optic atrophy syndrome.[13]
