CHIN-FM (100.7MHz) is acommercialradio station inToronto,Ontario,Canada. It broadcasts aMultilingualradio format and is owned byCHIN Radio/TV International. It is co-owned withCHIN1540 AM and CHIN-1-FM at 91.9 MHz. All three stations have separate ethnic programme schedules. Thestudios and offices are onCollege Street in thePalmerston-Little Italy neighbourhood of Toronto.

CHIN-FM has aneffective radiated power (ERP) of 7,750watts. Thetransmitter is atop theCN Tower.

Programming

CHIN-FM's weekday programming is primarily inPortuguese,Mandarin,Cantonese, andSouth Asian languages. On weekends,Kurdish,Serbian,Slovenian andCaribbean programming is also heard.[3]

History

CHIN-FM firstsigned on in 1967; 58 years ago (1967). The previous year, CHIN 1540 began broadcasting ethnic programming, one of the first multilingual stations in Canada. Its owners were granted aconstruction permit to add an FM station in Toronto with separate ethnic programming.

CHIN-AM-FM were started by Toronto broadcasterJohnny Lombardi and his then-partnerJames Ditson Service, a former mayor ofNorth York.[4][5] They saw a need for multilingual radio for Toronto's growing ethnic communities.
