Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 26 (CCL26) is a smallcytokine belonging to the CCchemokine family that is also calledEotaxin-3, Macrophage inflammatory protein 4-alpha(MIP-4-alpha), Thymic stroma chemokine-1 (TSC-1), and IMAC. It is expressed by several tissues includingheart, lung andovary, and inendothelial cells that have been stimulated with thecytokineinterleukin 4.[1][2] CCL26 is chemotactic foreosinophils andbasophils and elicits its effects by binding to the cell surfacechemokine receptorCCR3.[3] This gene for chemokine is located on humanchromosome 7.[4]
