Bylong River, aperennial river of theHunter River catchment, is located in theCentral Tablelands andUpper Hunter regions ofNew South Wales,Australia.
Bylong River rises in the central tablelands of theCapertee Valley, withinWollemi National Park, on the north-western slopes of theGreat Dividing Range, below Goat Mountain, and flows generally north-east, joined by seventributaries, including theGrowee River, before reaching itsconfluence with theGoulburn River, north of the village ofBylong. The river descends 530 metres (1,740 ft) over its 48 kilometres (30 mi)course.[2]
The Goulburn River eventually flows into the Hunter River, a major waterway which flows into theTasman Sea atNewcastle.[3]
