Burbank Boulevard is a major east–westarterial road that runs for 17.5 miles (28.2 km) across theSan Fernando Valley inLos Angeles andBurbank,California.
Burbank Boulevard was named afterthe City of Burbank, itself named forDavid Burbank, a dentist and rancher.[1] Prior to 1924, Burbank Boulevard was known as Central Avenue.[2]
Burbank Boulevard travels east–west across almost the entireSan Fernando Valley. A gap inWoodland Hills andTarzana breaks the road into two parts: a 4 mile section to the west and a 13.5 mile section to the east. The western section starts at the entrance toHidden Hills and travels through most ofWoodland Hills, while the eastern section travels fromTarzana, throughEncino,Sherman Oaks,Valley Village,North Hollywood, and intoBurbank.
The street is four lanes or more for almost its entire length. The road slightly turns at theLos Angeles/Burbank border, traveling east–west in Los Angeles and east-northeast west-southwest in Burbank.
Metro Local Line 237 runs along Burbank Boulevard betweenSherman Oaks andNorth Hollywood.[3] Metro Local Line 154 andBurbank Bus's Orange Route run along Burbank Boulevard betweenNorth Hollywood andBurbank.[4][5]
TheG Line'sValley College station is located at Burbank Boulevard and Fulton Avenue inSherman Oaks.[6]
