Bupkis is an Americancomedy drama television series created by and starringPete Davidson. It premiered onPeacock on May 4, 2023.
In June 2023, the series was renewed for a second season.[1] However, Davidson announced in March 2024 that he had chosen to not move forward with the second season.[2]
The show is described as a "heightened fictionalized version of Pete Davidson's life", and has been compared toLouis C.K.'sLouie andLarry David'sCurb Your Enthusiasm.[3][4][5]

The series was first announced in March 2022, withPete Davidson developing the series alongsideJudah Miller andDave Sirus, and Jason Orley set to direct. Davidson was also set to star.[8] The series was given a greenlight byPeacock in April.[9] The following month,Edie Falco was announced to play Davidson's mother in the series.[10] In August,Joe Pesci was added to the cast as Davidson's grandfather. It was Pesci's second starring role in a television series, his first being the 1985 seriesHalf Nelson.[11]
Filming for the series began by October 2022, with a first look image of Davidson and Pesci released by Peacock.[12] Most of the filming was done in New York.[13] In April 2023, it was revealed thatDavid Howard Thornton would appear in the series asArt the Clown.[14] On June 23, 2023, Peacock renewed the series for a second season,[1] but Davidson ultimately announced that he would not move forward with it.[2]

All eight episodes of the first season were released on May 4, 2023, exclusively on Peacock.[4] The series made its linear premiere on NBC in the United States on the early morning hours of June 4, 2023.[15] In Canada, the series premiered May 25, 2023 on Showcase.[16]
Review aggregatorRotten Tomatoes reported an approval rating of 78% based on 51 reviews, with an average rating of 6.7/10. The website's critics consensus reads, "Pete Davidson's second crack at playing a fictionalized version of himself may feel faintly recycled, but a terrific supporting cast and some surprising depth ensure this series adds up to more than justBupkis."[17]Metacritic gave the first season a weighted average score of 67 out of 100 based on 25 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews".[18]
