Bungadoo is a rurallocality in theBundaberg Region,Queensland, Australia.[2] The area was formerly known as Albionville. In the2021 census, Bungadoo had a population of 342 people.[1]
TheBurnett River forms the southern and eastern boundary of the locality.[3] The Ned Churchward Weir (originally called the Walla Weir) was built in 1998 across the river between Bungadoo andPromisedland to provide water forirrigation.[4]
The Goondoon railway station is in the north-eastern tip of the locality (24°56′38″S152°06′10″E / 24.9438°S 152.1027°E /-24.9438; 152.1027 (Goondoon railway station)). It was the junction from theMount Perry railway line to theWallaville railway line, both of which are now closed.[5]
Snake Creek is a neighbourhood in the north of the locality (24°58′00″S152°05′00″E / 24.9666°S 152.0833°E /-24.9666; 152.0833 (Snake Creek)). It takes its name from the former Snake Creek railway station, which was named by theQueensland Railways Department on 4 September 1919 after a nearby creek.[6]
Albionville Provisional School opened in 1891.[7] On 1 January 1909, it became Albionville State School. The school closed at 11 May 1962.[8] It was south of the River Road (approx24°59′26″S152°04′43″E / 24.9906°S 152.0786°E /-24.9906; 152.0786 (Albionville State School (former))).[9]
In the2016 census, Bungadoo had a population of 315 people.[10]
