Bukit Batok Single Member Constituency was asingle-member constituency (SMC) inwesternSingapore. At abolition, it was managed by Jurong–ClementiTown Council.
Bukit Batok Constituency was created in1972 from parts of the constituencies ofBukit Timah,Chua Chu Kang andBukit Panjang. It was renamedBukit Batok Single Member Constituency in 1988 after the creation ofgroup representation constituencies (GRCs) and lasted until the1997 general election.[1]
In 2016, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP),David Ong from the governingPeople's Action Party (PAP), resigned after having an extramarital affair with 41 year-old Wendy Lim, who is also a member and grassroots volunteer of the People's Action Party;[2] aby-election was called to replace the empty seat.[3] On 7 May,Murali Pillai from the PAP defeatedSingapore Democratic Party (SDP) secretary-general,Chee Soon Juan with a vote count of 61.2% to 38.8%.[4]
On 11 March 2025, theElections Department Singapore updated the electoral divisions for the2025 general election. Bukit Batok SMC was merged intoJurong East–Bukit Batok GRC.[5]
