Buckwheat gateau orBuckwheat torte (German:Buchweizentorte,pronounced[ˈbuːxvaɪ̯t͜sn̩ˌtɔʁtə]) is a dessert that is a speciality of theLüneburg Heath region ofLower Saxony in northernGermany.[1][2]

The gateau consists of layers of cake made frombuckwheat flour and heatherhoney, separated by a fruit layer usingyoghurt andcranberries and topped bywhipped cream andchocolate shavings.[1]
