Buck Cartwright was an American politician who served in theOklahoma House of Representatives between 1955 and 1958 and theOklahoma Senate between 1958 and 1962. He was the son ofJackson Robert Cartwright and father ofJan Eric Cartwright.
Cartwright was the son ofJackson Robert Cartwright.[1] He graduated from theUniversity of Oklahoma College of Law in 1942 and joined theU.S. Navy. While in the navy, he was commissioned as an officer.[2]
After returning to Oklahoma, he was an assistant county attorney inSeminole County, Oklahoma andWewoka, Oklahoma's city attorney.[3] He was a member of theDemocratic Party.[4] He served in theOklahoma House of Representatives between 1955 and 1958 and theOklahoma Senate between 1958 and 1962. After leaving theOklahoma Legislature he operated a private law practice in Wewoka. He filed to run forlieutenant governor of Oklahoma in 1966, but withdrew from the race.[3] His brothersWilburn Cartwright andKeith Cartwright also served in the Oklahoma Legislature.[5] He was the father ofJan Eric Cartwright.[6] Buck Cartwright was the last living member of his family to have held elective office before his death January 22, 1991.[7]
