Bryson Macrae Graham (12 September 1952 – 6 December 1993)[1][2] was an English rock drummer, most notable as a member ofMainhorse,Spooky Tooth andGirl, and as asession musician.
Bryson Macrae Graham was born to parents Joe Graham and Doreen Graham (née Bywaters), on 12 September 1952. He had an older brother named Raymond.
Bryson Graham commenced his professional recording career, at the age of seventeen as a member of Mainhorse Airline, with David Kubinec,Patrick Moraz, andJean Ristori (late summer 1969 to 1970). Kubinec left, and guitarist Auguste De Antoni was replaced by Peter Lockett; the band's name being shortened to Mainhorse (1970 to mid-1971) who released one album under this name.[3] He also played withGary Wright and Wonderwheel, includingGeorge Harrison as a special guest member, onTheDick Cavett Show. Graham later played withAlvin Lee[4] andTen Years After.
Graham was a member ofSpooky Tooth and appeared on two of their albums:You Broke My Heart So I Busted Your Jaw (1973), andThe Mirror (1974).
He later played for theglam rock bandGirl. He played onWasted Youth (1982) and onLive at the Exposition Hall, Osaka, Japan (2001; originally recorded 1982).
In 1983, he recorded an album withZahara, a group with several notable members includingReebop Kwaku Baah (percussion),Paul Delph (keyboards), andRosko Gee (bass).[5]
He was later a prolific session musician and worked withGary Wright, co-writing the score for the filmBenjamin.[6] He took part in thepunk andnew wave scenes, playing withIan North inNeo and recording the albumNeo. He briefly replaced JJ Johnson in theElectric Chairs when JJ refuse to fly to the United States. He also played on three albums by ex-Traffic drummerJim Capaldi,[3] andMoney and the Magic (1990) to support ex-Girl band memberGerry Laffy's solo career. Graham also worked withDave Stewart andBarbara Gaskin,[7] plusRichard Dobson onIn Texas Last December (1976),[8] and withRabbit Bundrick onDark Saloon (1974).[9]
Graham died in December 1993 at the age of 41.[citation needed]
