Bruno Saby (born 23 February 1949 inGrenoble) is arally driver fromFrance.
In 1981, Saby became French Rally Champion in aRenault 5 Turbo. He drove for the works teams ofRenault,Peugeot,Volkswagen andLancia during his career in theWorld Rally Championship. He took twoWorld Rally Championship wins in his career—his first, driving aPeugeot 205 Turbo 16 E2, was in the 1986Tour de Corse, in whichHenri Toivonen and his co-driverSergio Cresto died. His only other win was withLancia in the 1988Monte Carlo Rally.
In 1978, Saby claimed the FrenchRallycross Championship title with anAlpine A110 1600. In the 1988 French Rallycross Championship, he drove aLancia Delta S4 to become the runner-up to ChampionGuy Fréquelin, who drove aPeugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evo 2.
He participated from 1992 to 2008 in cross country rallye and in theDakar Rally, which he won in 1993 while driving forMitsubishi.[1] Alongside Mitsubishi, he competed in a Chevrolet Pro-Truck, X-Raid BMW, Volkswagen and in 2006, even for Fiat with its Panda 4x4 on the Dakar with the 'PanDakar' project.[2]Driving forVolkswagen, he won the 2005FIA cross-country rallye world championship.He retired in July 2008.
