Brunó Ferenc Straub (5 January 1914 inNagyvárad, Austria-Hungary (nowOradea,Romania) – 15 February 1996) was abiochemist. As a young scholar he was a research assistant ofAlbert Szent-Györgyi at theUniversity of Szeged, and subsequently worked at theMolteno Institute,Cambridge, UK. He was the first to obtainactin in a relatively pure state.[1] He founded theBiological Research Centre inSzeged. He was thechairman of the Hungarian Presidential Council from 29 June 1988 to 23 October 1989. He proposed the theory ofconformational selection in 1964,[2][3] the same year theMonod–Wyman–Changeux model was proposed.[4][5]
