Bruce Nichols (born December 31, 1955) is a former professionaltennis player from theUnited States.[1]
Nichols, ofUCLA, partnered withJohn Austin to win theNCAA Division One doubles championship in 1978.[2] He competed in the main singles draw of theUS Open three times, for one win, overTom Gorman in 1978.[3] In the doubles, Nichols (withDavid Graham) made the third round of the US Open in 1981 and narrowly missed out on a spot in the quarter-finals, losing toJohn Newcombe andFred Stolle in five sets.[3] It was in doubles that he had most of his success on tour, winning theLagos Open in 1980 and finishing runner-up at bothSouth Orange andBogota the previous year.[3]
