Broomia is anextinctgenus ofmillerettid reptiles from theMiddle Permian (Capitanian stage) of South Africa.[2] It was originally described byD. M. S. Watson.[1]
Research by Jenkins and colleagues (2025) based onsynchrotron data and an expansive phylogenetic dataset recovered the Millerettidae as thesister group to the Neodiapsida, close to the reptilecrown group.Broomia was recovered as thesister taxon to the clade formed byMilleropsis,Milleretta, andMillerosaurus. These results are displayed in thecladogram below, with taxa traditionally regarded as 'parareptiles' highlighted:[3]
