Broken Rainbow is a 1985 Americandocumentary film by Victoria Mudd and Maria Florio.[3]
The film is about the history ofNavajoNative Americans,[4] focusing on the government enforced relocation of thousands[5] fromBlack Mesa inArizona after the 1974 Navajo-Hopi Land Settlement Act. According to the film, the Navajo were relocated to aidmining speculation in a process that began in 1964. The film is narrated byMartin Sheen.[4] The title song was written byLaura Nyro, the theme music was composed byPaul Apodaca, with other original music by Rick Krizman and Fred Myrow.[6]
It won theAcademy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the58th Academy Awards.[7][8]
