Controversy

[edit]

Following the launch show, the Brits were castigated for having male-dominated nominations on the main and gender-neutral categories.[8][9][10][11][12] The nominations forAlbum of the Year,Best Group andBest New Artist were almost entirely dominated by male solo artists, except forMabel who was nominated for the latter, and international singersNormani andMiley Cyrus, who both were up for Song of the Year for their collaborations withSam Smith andMark Ronson.
