Brisbane Roar Women Football Club, formerly knownQueensland Roar Women, is an Australian professionalwomen's soccer club based inBrisbane, Queensland (founded in 2008). The Roar competes in the country's premier women's soccer competition, theA-League Women.

History

Early years

Brisbane Roar (then Queensland Roar) were a founding member of theW-League in 2008.[1] The team was initially coached byWelshmanJeff Hopkins, who had played his football career predominantly in England, as well as representingWales at the international level.[2] The playing roster featured a mix of youth and veterans, including founding captain andMatilda's stalwart,Kate McShea, and up-and-coming goalkeeperCasey Dumont.[3]

Home ground

From 2025–26 season onwards, Brisbane Roar will play at Spencer Park inNewmarket, having previously played atPerry Park.[4] Previous home grounds have included theQueensland Sport and Athletics Centre,Suncorp Stadium,A.J. Kelly Park,Kayo Stadium,Lions Stadium,Stockland Park andCleveland Showgrounds.[citation needed]
