Brian Towriss (born May 24, 1956)[1] is the formerhead coach for theUniversity of Saskatchewan's football team, theSaskatchewan Huskies.[2] Towriss became Saskatchewan's head coach in 1984 and becameCIS football's winningest head coach in2011, surpassingLarry Haylor with his 170th overall win. He resigned as head coach on December 19, 2016 with aU Sports football record 196 wins that held until 2022, and 315 games coached.[3] He reached theVanier Cup finals nine times as a head coach, having won three of those in1990,1996,1998. Collegiately, he also played CIS football for the Saskatchewan Huskies. He was inducted into theCanadian Football Hall of Fame in 2017 as a builder.[4]
