Brian Knapp Gardner, also known asBrian "Big Bass"Gardner,[1] is an Americanmastering engineer. He has worked on a number of recordings since the mid-1960s, includingclassic rock,funk,disco,alternative rock,R&B,hip hop,pop punk anddance-pop.[2] He is known for his work onhip hop albums, including collaborations withDr. Dre, who gave him the nickname "Big Bass".[3]
He was last employed at Bernie Grundman Mastering, a mastering house founded and run byBernie Grundman, and is now independent.[citation needed]
