Brian Abshire

American long-distance runner

Brian Kenneth Abshire (born November 14, 1963) is a retiredlong-distance runner from theUnited States (Richmond, California), who competed for the U.S. at the1988 Summer Olympics in the men's 3,000 metersteeplechase.[1] He won the bronze medal in the same event at the1987 Pan American Games, behind Brazil'sAdauto Domingues (gold) and countrymanHenry Marsh (silver).

He started college inOregon atClackamas Community College, but then transferred toAuburn University where he was twice anAll-American in cross-country, an All-American indoors in the 3,000 metres, and a two-time All-American in the steeplechase.[2]

Abshire was a member ofAthletics West.[3]
