Brett Steven Harris (born June 24, 1998) is an American professionalbaseballthird baseman for theAthletics ofMajor League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2024.

Amateur career

Harris attendedJohn Hersey High School inArlington Heights, Illinois, where played baseball and graduated from in 2016.[1] He enrolled at theUniversity of Houston to playcollege baseball for theHouston Cougars, but did not appear in a game, and transferred toCentral Arizona College for the 2018 season. He then transferred toGonzaga University, where he played three years of college baseball for theGonzaga Bulldogs,batting .355 with sixhome runs during his senior season in 2021.[2] He was also named theWest Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year.[3]

Professional career

TheOakland Athletics selected Harris in the seventh round of the2021 Major League Baseball draft.[4] He signed with the team and made his professional debut with theArizona Complex League Athletics and was promoted to theLansing Lugnuts during the season.[5] Over 27 games between both teams, he batted .238 with three home runs. He opened the 2022 season with Lansing and was promoted to theMidland RockHounds in late May.[6][7] Over 113 games between the two teams, heslashed .290/.374/.475 with 17 home runs, 63 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases.[8] To open the 2023 season, he was assigned to Midland.[9] In mid-July, he was promoted to theLas Vegas Aviators.[10] Over 105 games, he batted .279 with nine home runs and 62 RBIs.[11] He was selected to play in theArizona Fall League with theMesa Solar Sox.[12] Harris was assigned to Las Vegas to open the 2024 season.[13]

On May 3, 2024, Harris was promoted to the major leagues for the first time.[14]
