TheBrasil Tennis Cup is a professional women'stennis tournament contested in various Brazilian cities. It was founded in 1977 as theWTA Brazil Open and was the successor event to the earlierBrazilian International Championships (1932-1969). From 1984 to 2002 it was branded as theWTA Brasil Open. The last edition was played on outdoorclay courts inFlorianópolis, Brazil. Before 2014 and in 2016, the tournament was held onhard courts. The event is affiliated with theWomen's Tennis Association (WTA), and is anChallenger-level tournament on theWTA Tour. Until 2016, it was classified as a part ofWTA International tournaments.
In 2023 after a six year absence from tennis, Florianópolis returned to the circuit hosting aWTA 125 tournament calledMundoTenis Open.[1][2]
