Brandon McBride (born June 15, 1994) is a Canadiantrack and fieldathlete competing inmiddle-distance events, predominantly in the800 metres. He won the gold medal in the event at the2018 NACAC Championships.
McBride represented Canada at the2016 Rio and2020 Tokyo Olympics. He is theCanadian record holder for the 800 m[1] and won four national titles.
Brandon McBride attended W. F. Herman Secondary School in Windsor, ON.
He was a two-timeNCAA Division I800 metres champion and nine-time track and fieldAll-American atMississippi State University.[2]
In July 2016, McBride was officially named toCanada's Olympic team for theOlympics Games inRio de Janeiro, where he reached the 800 m semi-finals.[3]
He finished eighth in his specialist event at the2017 World Championships in Athletics held in London.[4]
In July 2018, McBride broke theCanadian national record in the 800 m at theMonacoDiamond League with a time of 1:43.20.[5]
