Boumdeid (Arabic:بومديد) is a town andcommune inMauritania. It is located in theAoukar basin, which formerly gave name to the greater region. It has a population of 3,189 at the 2013 census.[1] It is the birthplace of Mauritanian presidentMohamed Ould Ghazouani.
