The head coach of the Eagles isTodd Interdonato, and the team plays its home games at the newly constructedEddie Pellagrini Diamond atHarrington Athletics Village after having played atShea Field from 1961 to 2017.
The team has been selected to play in theNCAA Division I baseball tournament nine times, most recently in2023. It has played in theCollege World Series four times, the most recent being1967.

On May 30, 2009, the Eagles played in the longest game in college baseball history—a 25-inning game—during theNCAA Division I Baseball Championship regional tournament atAustin, Texas. TheUniversity of Texas Longhorns—who were designated the visiting team despite playing on theirhome field—won, 3–2. The game lasted seven hours and three minutes.[2][3]
The team has traditionally played an exhibition game each spring against theBoston Red Sox, as part of the Red Sox'spring training (Grapefruit League) season atJetBlue Park at Fenway South.[4]
This game began in 2012 and is played in honor of former captainPete Frates (2004–2007), who was diagnosed withALS in 2012.[5] The game has been hosted atFenway Park four times, most recently in 2024 when the Eagles upset #14Virginia, 8–2.[6]
The Red Sox open their 2011 spring schedule with the traditional games vs. Northeastern University and Boston College.
