Bornheim (German pronunciation:[ˈbɔʁnhaɪm]ⓘ;Ripuarian:Bonnem) is a town in theRhein-Sieg district, inNorth Rhine-Westphalia,Germany. It is situated on the West bank of theRhine, approx. 10 km north-west ofBonn, 20 km south ofCologne.
The town borders onBonn to the south, the towns ofAlfter andSwisttal to the southwest, the town ofWeilerswist to the west, the towns ofBrühl andWesseling to the north, as well as theRhine-bordering town ofNiederkassel in the east.
Bornheim is divided up into 14 districts: Bornheim, Brenig, Dersdorf, Hemmerich, Hersel, Kardorf, Merten, Rösberg, Roisdorf, Sechtem, Uedorf, Walberberg, Waldorf and Widdig.
Bornheim has a strong agricultural industry and is famous for itswhite asparagus.
