Borja Golán (born 6 January 1983 inSantiago de Compostela) is a Spanish retired professionalsquash player. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 5 in April 2014.[1][2]
In August 2009, in theColombian Open final, Borja suffered serious injury to his right knee which kept him out of action for six months.[3] He reached the top ten World Ranking the month following the tournament.
About three years later, in 2013, he got back into the top 10. In November, he reached the semi-final of theQatar Classic, winning in the quarter-final against the seed No. 1Grégory Gaultier in a tense and controversial match. In December, he was runner-up of theHong Kong Open, his firstPSA World Series final, againstNick Matthew. He announced his retirement in May 2023.[4]
Spanish squash legend Borja Golan is set to be in Kathmandu from 29 March to provide free coaching to the Nepali national teams and underprivileged children who are often denied the chance to take part in sport.</ref>[1]</ref>
