Boomi Shire was alocal government area in theNorth West Slopes region ofNew South Wales, Australia.

Boomi Shire was proclaimed on 7 March 1906, one of 134 shires created after the passing of theLocal Government (Shires) Act 1905.[1]

The shire offices were inMoree.[2] Towns in the shire includedBoomi,Ashley,Garah andMungindi.[2]

Boomi Shire was amalgamated withBoolooroo Shire andMunicipality of Moree to formMoree Plains Shire on 1 January 1981 per theLocal Government Areas Amalgamation Act 1980.[3]
