Bond Street is an east–west street running betweenBroadway andBowery, in theNoHo neighborhood ofLower Manhattan inNew York City.[1][2]
The actual namesake of the street is undetermined. It may have been named for city surveyor William Bond, or for a mention in an 1817 guidebook referring to Broadway as "TheBond Street of New York".[3]
24 Bond Street was the location of Beatrice andSam Rivers' studio RivBea[4] and ofRobert Mapplethorpe's first studio.[5] Mile End Sandwich, a spin-off restaurant ofMile End Delicatessen, the Jewishdeli inBrooklyn, is located on Bond Street betweenBowery andLafayette Street.[2] TheRobbins & Appleton Building is located at the western end of the street, at 1–5 Bond Street,[6]: 255 while theBond Street Savings Bank is at the eastern end at 54 Bond Street.[6]: 241 More recently, Bond Street became the location of stores forBilly Reid[7] andDrake'sOVO Clothing clothing brand.
