InGreek mythology,Bolbe (/ˈbɒlb/;Ancient Greek: Βόλβη) was a beautiful lake goddess ornymph, who dwelled in aMacedonian lake of the same name (modernLake Volvi). Like other lake gods and goddesses, Bolbe's offspring wereLimnades,nymphs who live in freshwater lakes.[citation needed] According toAthenaeus, Bolbe was the mother ofOlynthus byHeracles.[1]
