TheBlue Chip 30, also called theCape Cod 30, is an Americansailboat that was designed byA. Sidney DeWolf Herreshoff as acruiser and first built in 1961.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
The design was built byCape Cod Shipbuilding in theUnited States from 1961 until 1985, but it is now out of production.[1][5][7][8][9]
The Blue Chip 30 is a recreationalkeelboat, built predominantly offiberglass, with wood trim. It has amasthead sloop rig; a spooned,raked stem with abowsprit; a raised counter, angledtransom, akeel-mountedrudder controlled by atiller and a fixed long keel. It displaces 7,000 lb (3,175 kg) and carries 3,250 lb (1,474 kg) of lead ballast.[1][5]
The boat has a draft of 5.00 ft (1.52 m) with the standard keel and is fitted with aninboard engine for docking and maneuvering.[1][5]
The design has sleeping accommodation for four people, with a double"V"-berth in the bow cabin and a two straight settee berths in the main cabin. Thegalley is located on the starboard side just aft of the bow cabin. The galley is equipped with a two-burner stove, anice box and a sink. Thehead is located just aft of the bow cabin on the port side.[1][5]
The design has ahull speed of 6.45 kn (11.95 km/h).[5]
