Blaxy Girls was a Romanianall-girlrock band fromConstanta, formed in 2007. The band consisted of lead singer Rucsandra Iliescu, Cristina Marinescu, Diana Ganea, Ana Maria Nanu and Gela Marinescu.[1]
The group's first single, "If You Feel My Love" quickly became very popular in Romania. Their second great hit was "Dear Mama". The clip was internationally released in the beginning of March, as a present for the women and mothers all around the world. The first album of the group was released in December 2008.[2] The album included a bonus track "If You Feel My Love (Chaow Mix)", a remixed version of the lead single which features a sample of a classic Beijing opera aboutChen Shimei and Qin Xianglian. This version of the song became a famousInternet meme in 2020 after it was paired with a scene from an episode ofTom and Jerry, whereTom sits on a spinning phonograph looking like a caricature of a Chinese person.
They appeared in the semi-finals of the 2008Golden Stag Festival[3] and were among the finalists for the2009 RomanianEurovision Song Contest, with the song "Dear Mama"[4] finishing in a tie for second place.[5]
They planned to compete in the national selection of Romania for theEurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "Save the World" but later withdrew.[6]
The group officially disbanded in 2014, after a 7-year long career.
