TheRomanian Black Sea resorts[1], or theRomanian Riviera, stretch along the Black Sea coast from theDanube Delta at the northern end down to theBulgarian Black Sea Coast in the south, along 275 kilometers of coastline.
The most important resort isMamaia, situated north of the city ofConstanța on a narrow land slice that separates theBlack Sea andLake Siutghiol. Mamaia is a popular destination in the summer for Romanians and foreign tourists alike as a result of major investments in tourist infrastructure.
Other important resorts have names from Roman and Greek mythology, such asEforie Nord,Neptun,Venus,Saturn,Jupiter, andOlimp.
Other resorts includeEforie Sud,2 Mai, andCap Aurora. Further,Costinești is the traditional students' resort, whileVama Veche, in the extreme south bordering Bulgaria, is a fishing village well known for itshippie atmosphere.
The main cities in the region areConstanța (Romania's largest port),Mangalia,Năvodari, andSulina.All of these (except Sulina) are located inConstanta County, one of two Romanian counties with a coastline. In Tulcea County, the largest resort isGura Portiței.
The RomanianBlack Sea Riviera is served byConstanța Airport, which is connected to the main European capitals throughcharter flights during the summer season.
