Bishopstown Hurling and Football Club is aGaelic Athletic Association club inBishopstown,Cork,Ireland. The club is affiliated to theSeandún Board and fields teams inGaelic football,hurling andcamogie.

History

Located in the suburb ofBishopstown in the southwest ofCork, Bishopstown Hurling and Football Club was founded in 1957.[1] Bishopstown had its first success in 1971 when the club claimed theCity JFC title. This was followed in 1974 with theCork IFC title after a defeat ofNewcestown in thefinal.[2]

Bishopstown made a hurling breakthrough in 1977 with theCity JHC title. 15 years later the club beatCloyne by a goal to win theCork IHC and become adual senior club.[3] The club added aCork Premier IHC title to their collection in 2006 after a 0-20 to 1-11 defeat ofCarrigtwohill in the final.[4]

The new century saw Bishopstown make some progress at senior level but just fall short of claiming the title. The club lostCork SFC finals toNemo Rangers in 2002 and toCarbery in 2004.[5][6] Bishopstown also lost theCork SHC final toSarsfields in 2012.[7]
