TheLexus Birmingham Open (sponsored byLexus) is aWTA 125 organized by theWomen's Tennis Association, and anATP Challenger Tour 125 men's tournament since 2025.[1] It is held at theEdgbaston Priory Club inEdgbaston, Birmingham, United Kingdom. Held at this location since 1982, it is the successor event toMidland Counties Championships (1882-1977) a combined event that was also held at the same venue. The tournament is played on outdoor grass courts. It is seen as a warm up tournament forWimbledon and a sister tournament to theQueen's Club Championships.
Prior to 2014, the event was part of the WTA'sInternational series. Between 2014 and 2019, it was apremier level tournament. The 2020 competition was completely cancelled due to theCOVID-19 pandemic. It was aWTA 250 event from 2021 until 2024.
Sponsorship of the tournament has changed through the years, with the current sponsored name being the "Lexus Birmingham Open". Previously, the event has been called the "Rothesay Classic", "Viking Classic", "Nature Valley Classic", "Aegon Birmingham Classic", the "DFS Classic", the "Dow Classic", and the "Edgbaston Cup."
Pam Shriver holds the record for the most singles titles with four (1984–1987 consecutively).
